Stumbling along her path to spirituality while advancing her education in nutrition, Amy found herself at Bastyr University at precisely the right time to meet her spiritual teacher and research mentor Dr. Guan-Cheng Sun, PhD. Interested in energy-based and integrative medicine, Amy worked at an acupuncture clinic prior to attending Bastyr where she earned a research scholarship and the opportunity to assist Dr. Sun with his pilot study looking at the effects of Yi Ren Qigong exercise with adults diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Amy’s primary interest of this study related to the psychological effects of qigong in the participants.

Following the research trial, Amy began leading a weekly practice group and discovered her passion for moving energy and holding the space for others to practice and heal together. Continuing her cultivation while working with Dr. Sun at the Institute of Qigong and Integrative Medicine (IQ&IM), Amy became a certified Yi Ren Qigong instructor in 2012 and teaches Levels I, II and III, in addition to the protocol for diabetes prevention. Weaving her holistic nutrition knowledge with Chinese medicine and Ayurvedic nutrition and energetic practices, Amy understands the complexity of our bio-individuality and the confusion about healthy eating and dieting in the Western world.
